Per the Township Website “nestled in the central section of Chester County are eleven square miles of rolling green acreage. They were once part of Caln Township, established in 1702 as one of the first townships in modern Chester County.
This large area was divided in 1739 when residents of East Caln Township petitioned for more manageable boundaries. Brandywine Township was established in 1790. Another split occurred in 1844, and East Brandywine Township and West Brandywine Townships were born.”
